Slouchy stripes

Trends die terugkomen, omdat de inspiratiebron van designers stilletjes aan begint leeg te geraken of ze immers zó goed zijn dat we er naar hunkeren om die trends terug in ons leven te roepen. Misschien is deze print ook wel nooit weggeweest? Is het dan nog wel toegestaan om dit een trend noemen? 

Spring Runway 2014 toonde ons strepen en lijnen verfrissender dan ooit tevoren. Dunner en fijner weliswaar. Proenza Schouler (favoriet bij uitstek) wist het nieuw leven te blazen aan de hand van shiny & metallic stoffen, met als resultaat de metalic strip pleated skirt. Ook Céline pleitte voor monochrome. Er werd op de meest creatief mogelijke manier gespeeld met de grafische lijnen. Ze overheersten de catwalk in pastel, kleuren en zelfs met flower print. 

Geen andere print, die zo easy peasy te combineren valt. Ik ging voor de magische termen: oversized tas en slouchy denim. Et voila, c'est ça! Een every day outfit werd geboren. Ik overweeg zelfs om met beide voeten uit de comfort zone te stappen (drie-twee-ééeeen) en deze Zara broek aan te schaffen. 

This spring/summer we'll be lining up again for stripes. The print makes a refreshing comback this season. Or did this trend actually never leave us? This time there's a big variation on the trend. Designers played in a creative way with monochrome, pleats (Prounza Schouler), flower prints and colours. How to dress down stripes, without having that zebra look? Easy, peasy! The magic terms: slouchy denim or white/black skinnies et voila!

Oversized casual all the way

Oversized & loose knitted sweaters, een schets van mijn midweek-situation outfits. Voor de foto's werden mijn deadlines even aan de kant geschoven. 'Deadline', wat een verschrikkelijk woord. Anyway, er is licht aan het einde van de tunnel want zaterdag vertrek ik naar Berlijn! Aangezien ik nog nooit in deze stad ben geweest zijn tips, do's en don'ts zijn zeker welkom! 

Oversized & loose knitted sweaters are a summery of my midweek-situation outfits. My deadlines simply had to wait a minute, to take these photographs. Anyway, drowning in schoolwork is almost over. Saturday I'll be travelling to Berlin. I've never been to this city before, so all tips are welcome!

MHKA// el hotel eléctrico

“El hotel eléctrico- kamers beschikbaar” is de tentoonstelling waar animatie beeldende kunst wordt. Niets mis met even lekker arty farty te doen. Het M HKA is een impressionant gebouw. De witte ruimtes brachten met tot rust. Een nachtje doorbrengen in el hotel eléctrico zie ik nog wel zitten.

Deze week arriveerde mijn oversized H&M coat in de brievenbus. Met een stuk of drie vreugdekreten vink ik dit item van mijn wishlist af. En o wat voel ik me een bevredigd en vervolledigd individu. The perks of being a shopaholic.

“El hotel eléctrico- rooms available” is the exposition where animation becomes visual arts. When I saw these fascinating images, I decided to visit the M HKA as soon as possible. Nothing wrong with acting a lil bit arty farty, right? The white spaces brought inner peace to me. I def wouldn’t mind to spend the night at el hotel eléctrico.

Over the shoulders

Spring is on my mind and the sunlight is hurting my eyes. De zon schijnt in deze outfitpost dan ook letterlijk in mijn ogen. Ik denk dat we dit jaar winter skippen en meteen overgaan naar de lente. Fingers crossed!

Het contrast tussen wit en grijs geeft me een magisch gevoel. Zoals jullie merken, slaag ik er nog steeds in om mijn kleur gebruik te beperken. Ik voel me niet langer aangetrokken tot felle kleuren. Is het gewoon een fase die ik doorloop? Het kan. Ik weet het niet. Er bestaat niets leuker dan experimenteren en jezelf steeds beter te leren kennen. Ik draag een nieuw paar Nikes. Ze zijn zó mooi en zitten dan ook nog eens zó comfortabel. En daar gaan we weer. Wat heb ik de laatste tijd toch met dat woord 'comfortabel'? IEUW.

Spring is on my mind and the sunlight is hurting my eyes, literally. I think we be skipping winter this year. Fingers crossed! The contrast between white and grey gives me this magical feeling. As you guys see, I'm still into wearing neutral colours. Bright colours don't attract me any longer. May be it's just a phase I'm going through. I don't know. It's fun to experiment and to get to know yourself better. I'm wearin' my new pair of Nikes.

O TO THE EM GEE! Slechts één foto? Ja hoor. Just one picture that tells the whole story. Deze simpele, classy outfit droeg ik naar de persdagen in Antwerpen. De perfecte gelegenheid dus om mijn nieuwe cut-out Balenciaga inspired boots in te lopen. Ondanks het slechte weer slaagden we er toch in om een kleine outfit shoot in te lassen. Do what needs to be done. Regen, hagel of sneeuw outfit pictures it is. De paraplu matcht trouwens leuk bij de achtergrond, denk je niet? 

O TO THE EM GEE! Just one picture? Indeed. I wore this simple but classy outfit to the pressdays in Antwerp. The perfect occasion to show my new cut-out Balenciaga inspired boots. Despite it was raining cats and dogs we managed to do this little outfit shoot. Do what needs to be done, because outfit pictures it is. By the way the umbrella matches the background, don't you think so?

The grey maxi skirt.

'The grey maxi skirt', haha ik vernoem het alsof het een nieuwe term in de fashion bible is. Maar voor mij voelt het eigenlijk ook wel zo aan.. Jarenlang staat dit item op mijn wishlist, nadat ik het random in de Elle had gespot.

En toen ik het eindelijk aantrok in de RiverIsland, kreeg ik voor enkele seconden "tha pyjama feeling". Ooooh, crap! 

Maar toen ik het aantrok met de cropped top, was ik volledig verkocht. Ik combineer de maxi rok het liefst met een witte of grijze top, dit zorgt voor een zachtere uitstraling. En sequins. Ik kan niet wachten om het nogal boring grijs met sequins te combineren à la Fille a papa.

De laatst tijd ben ik nogal into the 'all white', 'all grey' en 'all black'. Oh god, what's happening to me?! De leukste comment die ik over de cropped top kreeg, was dat het kinky was. Wat denken jullie mijn dear fellas/readers?

When I finally putted the skirt on in RiverIsland, I got to deal with "tha pyjama feeling". Oooh, crap! But when I combined it with the cropped top I got totally in looove. I'd like to combine this maxi skirt with a grey or white top, because it creates a soft look. And sequins.
